Fireseed Catering Wedding

Christy and Trineesh are an international couple. They met while living abroad in Switzerland where they have since built a life together. Christy immigrated from the states and Trineesh from Canada although he is originally from India. They had a simple courthouse wedding in Switzerland but waited to have a bigger celebration on Whidbey Island where Christy spent her summers growing up. Their wedding was a perfect reflection of their diverse backgrounds. They borrowed from both Indian and American tradition to plan a beautifully meaningful ceremony rich with symbolism and full of heart. Between the misty drizzle, vibrant saturated color and dreamy Sarod music it felt like a scene out of a Bollywood movie. My favorite part of the ceremony was their subtle nod to smashing the patriarchy. Instead of the standard “you may now kiss the bride” Christy gave Trineesh their fist married kiss. The reception was as fun as the ceremony was beautiful. They started out their first dance with a choreographed Bollywood number and things got wild with a mostly 90’s throwback dj set. There was a Congo line, the Hora and a sparkler send off. It was without a doubt one of my favorite weddings of the season.  Thanks so much to Caroline Walker Evans for shooting with me- it is always better with you by my side.
